SIMC2.0 EXPLORE TRACK
(THEME: AI ROBOTICS FOR A SMART NATION)
OVERVIEW
The Explore Track is a focused and dynamic event under the Singapore International Mathematical and Computational Challenge (SIMC2.0). Designed specifically for local secondary school students, this track offers an intensive, hands-on introduction to Artificial Intelligence Robotics. Participants will work in their school team to design AI-driven solutions for real-world problems in a supportive yet authentic environment, culminating in a final showcase.
WHY PARTICIPATE?
- Accelerated AI Robotics Literacy: Gain a practical, foundational understanding of transformative AI technologies in an engaging, project-based setting.
- Future-Ready Skills: Develop critical thinking, technical communication, and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
KEY DETAILS
- Eligibility: Open to local schools only. Each participating school registers one team of 3 students.
- Age Group: Students aged 13 to 15 years (Secondary 1 to Secondary 3).
- Format: A 4-day, non-residential intensive bootcamp at NUS High School followed by a final showcase on 29 May.
- Program Dates: 25–28 May (Bootcamp), 29 May (Showcase).
Please note: There will be no session on 27 May, which is a public holiday. The bootcamp content has been designed and scheduled accordingly. - Scale: Limited to the first 24 schools to register, ensuring personalized guidance and meaningful interaction.
- Core Aim: To significantly level up AI Robotics literacy by immersing students in the practical application of AI concepts within robotics for authentic problem-solving.
- Outreach Commitment: We actively encourage participation from schools with students from diverse backgrounds, aiming to broaden access to advanced AI and computational education.
- The tentative programme is shown below in Table 1.

THE EXPERIENCE: BOOTCAMP & SHOWCASE
The programme is structured to maximize hands-on learning and teamwork:
- Days 1–4 (Intensive Bootcamp, 25–28 May): A curated, non-residential programme where teams explore core AI concepts—such as computer vision, sensor integration, and autonomous decision-making—through workshops, mentor-led sessions, and guided project development. The environment is collaborative, with an emphasis on peer learning and creative experimentation.
Note: The schedule for 25–28 May excludes the public holiday on 27 May. - Day 5 (Final Showcase on 29 May):
- Teams will present their projects to peers including local and overseas senior high student participants in the Endeavour track.
- Projects will be reviewed by an expert panel, which may recognize outstanding work for its creativity, clarity of thought, and teamwork.
- The showcase is a celebration of learning, providing a platform for students to articulate their ideas and engage with the wider tech community.
LEARNING JOURNEY & FOCUS
Throughout the bootcamp, teams will progress through a structured problem-solving cycle:
- Authentic Problem-Scoping: Identifying a relevant, real-world challenge.
- AI Concept Integration: Exploring how specific AI tools can empower a robotic solution.
- Project Development: Synthesizing learning into a coherent project plan and poster.
- Ethical & Impact Reflection: Considering the societal implications of their proposed technology.
COST
- There is no registration fee for participation.
- NUS High School will provide meals during the programme for local participants when they are on-site at NUS High School.
ROLE OF EDUCATOR
The educator is not required on-site on the other days but has to be contactable in cases of emergencies.
The participating educator is invited to an educators’ programme on 26 May 2026 and showcase on 29 May 2026.
